Akasa Air has announced the addition of Lucknow as the eleventh destination to its network as part of its expansion into Uttar Pradesh. Beginning December 25, 2022, the airline will offer daily flights on the Lucknow-Bengaluru and Lucknow-Mumbai routes.
The airline is also increasing connectivity between Bengaluru and Kochi by adding a third daily frequency flight beginning December 29, 2022. As a result of this development, the airline will operate 26 daily flights from Bengaluru.
Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Akasa Air, said the airline is happy to debut its 11th destination of Lucknow. “Connecting this state capital with the key centres of Mumbai and Bengaluru is another extension of Akasa Air’s efforts to promote the country’s economy by enhancing its critical transportation linkages,” he said.
In response to the high demand for flights linking the two cities, Praveen Iyer continued, the airline is expanding its presence on the Bengaluru-Kochi route by introducing an evening frequency.
Akasa Air, which began operations in August, has been scaling up its operations, and by the end of December, it hopes to have over 500 weekly flights on sixteen routes across eleven cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Agartala, Pune, Visakhapatnam, and Lucknow.
The airline plans to expand its network to establish a strong pan-India presence, with a focus on metro to tier 2 and 3 route connectivity, by adding one new aircraft every 15 days. According to the airline, Akasa Air’s fleet size will be 18 aircraft by the end of March 2023, with the airline adding 54 additional aircraft over the next four years, bringing its total fleet size to 72.
